Omari - Durham Dogs & Cats Home

Omari

Y

Omari is a truly special boy with a story written in both his gentle eyes and the scars he carries. At just 2 years old, this beautiful lurcher—believed to be a Pharaoh Hound mix—embodies grace, resilience, and quiet strength. His name, meaning “high born” in ancient Egypt, suits him perfectly; there’s something undeniably noble about Omari.

When Omari first arrived with us, he wasn’t in the best condition. Despite this, his loving and affectionate nature has always shone through. He greets his carers with genuine joy every day, and nothing makes him happier than spending calm, one-on-one time in his pen, soaking up all the attention he can get.

Omari is a social soul who enjoys the company of other dogs and could potentially share his home with a friendly canine companion, following a successful introduction. He may also be able to live with older, dog-savvy children who can respect his space and gentle nature.

Out on walks, Omari can be a little strong on the lead to begin with—but he soon settles into a more relaxed stride. With a patient and understanding owner willing to continue working on his lead manners, he will make a wonderful and rewarding companion.

Omari has so much love to give and truly deserves a home where he can feel safe, cherished, and part of a family.
