Odie - Durham Dogs & Cats Home

Odie

Y

Odie is a beautiful 5½-year-old Afghan Hound cross with the softest heart to match his elegant looks. He’s a lovely, gentle, and affectionate boy who forms strong bonds with his people and truly enjoys being part of a home.

Odie loves his walks and really enjoys getting his energy out with a few good zoomies – he’s at his happiest when he has space to stretch his legs and have some fun! He walks nicely on the lead, but can become frustrated when he sees other dogs while on it. Because of this, he’ll need an experienced owner who understands lead reactivity and can help him build calmer, more confident behaviour around other dogs when out walking.

Off lead, Odie seems to be a very different boy – greeting other dogs in a friendly and playful way. With the right introductions, he could potentially live with another calm, friendly dog, as long as his adopters understand that Odie will need to be kept separate from other dogs when unsupervised at first, and supported with time, patience, and positive training to help him learn how to socialise calmly.

Odie will need a home with a secure garden, as this lad truly loves his zoomies and having space to run and play. He’d also be best suited to a busy household where someone is around most of the time, especially while he’s building his confidence in a new environment.

He could possibly live with older, dog-savvy children, following a successful introduction.

Odie is a gentle, loving boy who just needs the right home to help him shine. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and a playful side, Odie could be the one for you
